PetPlace Pet Insurance Review

Pet owners who want to provide their pets with the best possible medical care often purchase a pet insurance policy to ensure they have the financial help if or when they need it. PetPlace Insurance Company believes that pet owners should be able to make decisions on medical care based on what the pet needs and not on what the pet owner can afford.

Founded by a veterinarian, PetPlacePetInsurance.com offers various pet products, which are offered and supplied by Pets Best Insurance Services, LLC. The pet insurance policies are underwritten by Independence American Insurance Company, which was rated as excellent by A.M. Best. Here is an overview of some of the pet insurance coverages offered by PetPlace Pet Insurance.

Coverage

With this company offering several different plans, pet owners can choose the policy that best meets not just their pet’s needs but also their own budgets. They offer three main accident and illness plans: Essential, Plus and Elite. In addition to covering the basic accident and illness-based veterinary services, they also cover cremation and euthanasia. Pets are also covered for up to six months while traveling abroad. Pet owners have 24/7 access to a pet helpline.

They offer an Accident Only plan that provides coverage for treatment of choking, broking bones, being hit by a moving vehicle and similar things that fall under the category of accidents. This does not cover any illnesses unless the illness stems from an accident.

This policy is offered with a $250 deductible, 90% reimbursement and an annual limit of $10,000. This policy is ideal for pet owners who want a cost-effective policy that covers the most common accidents requiring veterinary are.

Routine Care is another type of coverage offered to pet owners. This coverage can be purchased alongside another plan. It covers things like sterilization, vaccinations, heartworm preventative and blood work. Routine Care is offered as a BASICWELLNESS or a BESTWELLNESS™ and is available for both cats and dogs.

The BASICWELLNESS pays up to $245 for cats and $505 for dogs with no deductible, while the BESTWELLNESS™ pays up to $285 for cats and $565 for dogs also with no deductible. Pet owners can use these benefits the day after enrolling. The main difference between these two routine care products is that the BESTWELLNESS™ covers spay/neuter, teeth cleaning and urinalysis and also pays a little more on a few other services.

The Routine Care coverage may not cover a large amount, but it’s popular with customers because it covers basic care and does not require a deductible. Premiums vary from state to state, and some coverages may not be available in certain states. Here is an example of possible coverage on a dog covered under the BESTWELLNESS™ plan.

Wellness exam $50
Rabies $15
Canine influenza shot $15
Lyme vaccine $15
Flea/tick/heartworm preventative $25
